The Alexander McQueen diffusion line McQ have recently released a new Still life lookbook to accompany their Autumn Winter 2012 collection. Many of the garments featured are not seen in this seasons main lookbook. The collection illustrates Sarah Burton’s take on equestrian British traditions and classic outdoor pursuits. Many of the McQueen house codes are referenced such as the use of tartan and bold silhouettes. These classic features are combined with fresh inspirations from the military, 1940′s land girls, the great outdoors and elements of Victoriana.

The items featured in this most recent still life lookbook are a selection of the more classic pieces including dresses with nipped-in waists and bell shaped or pleated skirts, smart military style jackets and coats in charcoal and khaki shades. A number of skirts in tartan, tulle, leather and velvet Broderie Anglaise accompany cashmere jumpers and a chunky army knit. Adding a splash of colour we see this seasons birds of paradise print upon leggings and a long-sleeved tunic dress.

Equestrian influences shine through in the form of a tartan riding jacket and matching tapered trousers as well as heeled Chelsea boots and chain detailed waist belts.

Other shoe styles available in this collection include black and silver patent brothel creepers, a pair of buckle detailed Mary Janes and thigh high, lace up heeled boots. Additional accessories include matching red tartan iPad and laptop cases showing acknowledgement of contemporary living.

The AW12 collection will be available online at and in store at the McQ flagship on London’s Dover Street from August 2012.
