Bhairavi Jaikishan proudly showed off her flamboyant yet traditional collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 on Monday 3rd August 2012. She calls her collection “A Wonderful World”. Jaikishan presented her elaborate techniques to enthusiastic spectators in Mumbai. She used complex colours and created timeless silhouettes.
The range was focused around occasion fashion. Cocktail, evening and bridal wear were the main elements of the lavish catwalk show. Bhairavi showed her extravagant collection in a show full of bold, vibrant and colourful pieces.
Strangely the use of black did not look out of place amongst shades of nude, ivory, mustard, emerald, pink, and red. The contrast was well done and only intensified the other colours. The gowns were dripping with beautiful jeweled necklines which more than made up for the lack of accessories.
The red velvet catwalk complimented each outfit perfectly and dramatically. Bhairavi favoured net and created what can only be described as visions of art. Floral embellishments and petticoats formed stunning saris.
The detail that went in to each outfit was unbelievable. Appliqué and sequins added a sense of prosperity to the garments, especially the saris with gold lace appliqué or twisting vines meandering down them.
The entire “A Wonderful World” collection is a great triumph and a true tribute to Bhairavi’s talent and skill.
