Lakmé Fashion Week, LFW, organised by No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance, exceeded the public and the press expectation with the grand shows presented by Anushka Khanna, Felix Bendish and Izi Atelier.
Despite varying on style, shapes and colours the collections left all the fashion fanatics wishing for more of the designers’ fabulous creations.
Anushka Khanna paraded the LFW catwalks with clothes infused with mosaic arts and styles. Blending the frills of the Victorian era with the classic structure of the Renaissance, Khanna’s collection was all about the accentuation of the body frame. With coloured thread and sequins, flared skirts in mosaic prints and patterned beadwork. The designer gave a feminine but surreal appeal to the creations by mixing free flowing silhouettes with shades of bright neon colours, giving a modern, fun and feminine look to the outfits.
Felix Bendish’s show focused on to-die-for accessories for the coming season with brooches, necklaces, hair accessories, cuff and clutches displaying Swarovski crystals and large, gliterring gemstones. Bendish mixed an intriguing use of shapes with colours such as orange, pink and midnight blues, giving a fascinating but effortless look to the collection. Not to miss was a unique bolero jacket piece embellished in semi precious stones and sporting long tassels. Definitely every fashion lover’s dream!
Izi Atelier, on her third season at LFW, showcased a stylish but elegant and in some ways even sober collection. ‘The Midas Touch’ mixed elements from Greek and Indian fashion with draping and fine prints details. Using fabrics such as velvets, cottons and georgettes with a 40s inspiration, Izi Atelier designed gowns fitted for a queen. Flared tops and sleek pants in deep purple, ivy green, mustard, black and cherry red coloured the LFW catwalks with the epitome of elegance and poise while presenting highly creative and stylish pieces.
