Our favourite Persian designer returns with another addition to her Autumn/Winter collection and this time, she’s not thinking about covering up. Unlike her previous Diva collection which enhanced the traditional Abayas, Mahtab Jamali brings a more feminine, yet daring approach to the cooler climate. Like the Diva, the creative mind behind the Katayoon brand chose to confine her colour palette of royal navy blue, midnight black and for contrast – pearl white. Materials include cashmere, silk, satin and chiffon – with wool for most of the coats and heavy tops.

The strip effect is prominent across most of her Womenswear items, be it around the shoulder strap, the skirt or even the whole dress. It seems structured yet graceful, discreet and sensual at the same time – provocative with a dash of elegance. Her fur-like coats are perhaps the only thing that will keep you warm during the cooler months but when you can look this good – would you really care? When commenting on her current collection Jamali states that, ‘I believe in femininity and power hence using a lot of sharp cuts with bold colours. I hope my work has a positive effect on any woman who wears my creations’. When asked to describe a typical Katayoon woman, she replies ‘someone who isn’t afraid to express themselves and is daring with their choice of style. So by wearing my outfits, I hope, they can be courageous in life too’. Her collection for Menswear seems minimal however the craftsmanship comes in the layering and over layering around certain features like the loose neck piece or the hooded coat. Check out the rest of the collection on her new website.
