Last week the Queen’s grand Jubilee Tour launched in Leicester with the Royals attending a number of exciting events. During the weeks leading up to the launch of Her Royal Highness’ tour, the Duchess of Cambridge launched a competition for local Footwear Design students studying at De Montfort University. The winner was hand picked by the Duchess on Thursday the 8th of March, when she along with other members of the Royal Family paid a visit to the highly creative university.
The lucky winner was 20 year old Becka Hunt who designed a blue suede pair of stilettos, decorated in a beaded lace overlay. The young student was inspired by 19th century fashions and Kate’s signature looks, as well as her famous engagement ring given to her by Prince William. Becka’s beautiful design will now be made into a fully functioning pair of heels that the Duchess will wear to an event in the not so distant future. We personally love Becka’s design, the royal blue and white lace capture Kate Middleton’s style so perfectly; elegant yet modest. With the publicity she has gained from winning this competition, Becka’s career is bound to take off at an alarming speed, so be sure to keep an eye out for her.
